What you can check yourself

Unplug everything on the circuit that keeps tripping and switch the RCD back on. Does it stay on? Plug the appliances back in one by one. The one that makes it trip again is the culprit.

Can you smell burning, or does a socket feel warm? Switch that circuit off and have it checked straight away.

How we fix it

We test every circuit with an insulation resistance tester. That way we find a damaged cable behind the skirting board or a damp outdoor socket without breaking open the wall. Afterwards you get a short report of what was wrong.

Quick answers about fixing electrical faults

01 Is a fault more expensive in the evening?

Yes, the call-out rate is €139 then. The quarter-hour rate stays the same.

02 Why does my RCD keep tripping?

Usually an appliance with a leakage current, like an old kettle, a washing machine or an outdoor light with moisture in it. Sometimes there are too many appliances on one RCD. We measure it.

The RCD tripped every evening. Sven found the cause within an hour: water in the outdoor light. That simple.
